For most farms September is the busy month as we start to harvest almost all crops planted, from Leeks, Squash, Brussel Sprouts, to almost everything seems to be ripe and ready to be picked. The produce bag is rather large this week, and yet we have a lot more out there, so if you want something you do not see just ask we may have it, but not in large quantities.
It is time to order your Thanksgiving Turkey! This year most Turkeys are in the 10-20lb range, we got them 2 weeks later than normal as the last few years the Turkeys were a little too large. So this year they are about 6-10lb now, and we hope to have them in the 10-22lb range with at most 16+lbs. We raised 3 different varieties, so we should have a nice range of weights and sizes.
We also have a few frozen Whole Chickens around the 5-7lb range, and some Chicken Drums, Thighs, Breasts, and Wings for sale. Although the pork supply is slowly dwindling, we have 5 pigs going on September 16th so we will have a full freezer again with Bacon, Hams, Roasts, and more delicious sausage! We also have a half cow being made into more Summer Sausage, this went to the butcher in August, but the smoking and curing process takes a few weeks and we hope to have the summer sausage back for Thanksgiving.
